The Imo State Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt following a deadly attack that claimed the lives of over seven people and left several others injured in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 25, has been described by authorities as a barbaric act allegedly carried out by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In a strongly worded statement, Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma condemned the assault, labeling it “inhumane and totally unacceptable.” The attack targeted communities in Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno, leaving behind a trail of bloodshed and panic.

“The Command has deployed adequate operational and intelligence assets to track down and arrest the perpetrators,” CP Danjuma stated. “We will not rest until those responsible for this senseless violence are brought to justice.”

According to the Command, tactical units have been dispatched to comb the affected areas. The police say the situation is now under control, with increased patrols and preventive security measures in place to avert further violence and restore calm.

The Commissioner extended his condolences to the families of the victims, offering prayers for the deceased and speedy recovery for the wounded. He urged the public to remain calm but vigilant, and to cooperate with authorities by providing any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.

Residents with tips are encouraged to contact the police through the emergency lines: 08034773600 or 08103341610. All information, police assured, will be treated with strict confidentiality.
