In a sweeping move aimed at strengthening governance and driving institutional efficiency, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of 17 new officials across key government departments, institutions, and state-owned agencies.
The announcement was made in an official statement released Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, who confirmed that all appointments take immediate effect.
Protocol Department Overhauled
Among the high-profile changes is a revamp of the state’s Protocol Department. Uche Mark Nwosu has been appointed Chief Protocol Officer, with Ikechukwu Nwankwo named Deputy Chief Protocol Officer. Also joining the team are Adaeze Ivy Iroegbu as Chief Moderator, Emmanuel Paul Irechi, Amarachi Inyama, and Augustine Chukwuebuka, all as Protocol Officers.
Leadership Shakeup at Abia College of Education
At the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu, Dr. Joe Emeson has been named Chairman of the Governing Council, while Dr. (Mrs.) Idowu O. Eluwa has been appointed as the new Provost—two critical leadership positions expected to guide reforms in the education sector.
New Appointments at Abia Transport and Abuja Liaison Office
Iheanyi Frank Chinasa will now serve as Chief Liaison Officer and National Assembly Liaison at the Abia State Liaison Office in Abuja. Meanwhile, Emmanuel M. Ufomba has been appointed Chairman of the Abia State Transport Corporation, with Godanswer P. Kalu, Salomey Onwu, Kingsley Oriaku, and Onyebuchi Nna joining the board.
Strategic Special Advisers Named
Governor Otti also approved key advisory roles, including the appointment of Chima Raymond Ukwa as Special Assistant on Sports, Prince Christian Enwerenmadu as Special Adviser on Agriculture, and Mrs. Chinenye Nwaka as Senior Special Assistant on Women Affairs.
The appointments are seen as part of Governor Otti’s ongoing efforts to professionalize governance and improve service delivery across the state’s institutions.
