As part of efforts to promote community development and improve access to basic healthcare, the Great Friends Club of Nigeria has organised a free medical outreach for residents and indigenes of Edaiken Community in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
The initiative, organised under the club’s 2026 Community Development Project, provided beneficiaries with access to medical checks and free eyeglasses, bringing relief to residents who may otherwise struggle to afford such essential healthcare services.
For many residents, the outreach was more than a medical exercise; it was an opportunity to check their health status and receive attention they might not ordinarily afford.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the club for the gesture, describing the initiative as timely and impactful, particularly for individuals who face financial challenges in accessing medical examinations and corrective eyeglasses.
The Vice Chairman of Egor Local Government Area, Honourable Kenny Isokpen, commended the executives and members of the Great Friends Club of Nigeria for extending a helping hand to the community.
He noted that the intervention would go a long way in improving the welfare of residents and called on well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and other social groups to embrace community-focused initiatives that directly benefit the people.
The Chairman of the Great Friends Club of Nigeria Kenneth Omoregbe Obawonuyi also expressed appreciation to residents for turning out in large numbers to participate in the medical outreach, describing their response as encouraging.
Similarly, the Public Relations Officer of Edaiken Parliament, Owan Idele, applauded the club’s leadership for the initiative. He disclosed that he had his blood pressure and blood sugar levels checked during the exercise, adding that he had experienced difficulty reading from his phone and books, making the provision of free eyeglasses particularly beneficial.
The outreach underscores the importance of partnerships between community organisations and residents in promoting preventive healthcare, improving access to basic medical services and supporting vulnerable members of society.
For the Great Friends Club of Nigeria, the 2026 Community Development Project represents a practical demonstration of its commitment to giving back to the community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people.
