Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has suspended the Managing Director of the Imo State Housing Corporation (IMSHC), Barrister Raymond Ucheoma, less than a year after appointing him to the position.

The suspension, which took immediate effect was conveyed in an official letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The letter directed Ucheoma to immediately step aside from his duties pending further directives from the government.

According to the communication, the suspended Managing Director was instructed to hand over all government property and official responsibilities in his possession to the Secretary of the Corporation or the most senior officer within the agency.

The state government did not disclose the reason for the suspension, leaving questions over the circumstances surrounding the action unanswered as of the time of filing this report.

Ucheoma, a lawyer and former Head of Service of Imo State, was appointed Managing Director of the Imo State Housing Corporation in May 2025. His appointment was approved by Governor Uzodimma and communicated through a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu.

Part of the appointment letter had expressed confidence in Ucheoma’s capacity to reposition the corporation, stating that the governor expected him to deploy his wealth of experience toward improving the agency’s operations and aligning its service delivery with the administration’s 3R Prosperity Agenda.

As of press time, neither Ucheoma nor the Imo State Government had issued any further statement regarding the suspension or indicated whether an investigation was ongoing.
